Nine Winning Students athletes will be pitting themselves against the very best academic sporting talent this summer after being selected for the World Universities Summer Games in Naples.

Leading the Winning Students contingent in the GB squad will be two-time Olympian, Craig Benson (University of Stirling), who won two medals at the 2015 edition of these championships. Also a European champion, Commonwealth Games fourth placer and former World Junior champion, Benson is included after swimming world class times in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the British Swimming Championships.

Benson will be joined by fellow Stirling swimmer, Craig McLean, and tennis scholar, Scott Duncan, whilst the University of Edinburgh will be represented in the pool, and diving pool, by Kathryn Greenslade, Millie Fowler and Gemma Macarthur. David Cumberlidge (Heriot-Watt University) has also been selected following a strong showing and the British Championships.

Out of the water, Scottish table tennis champion, Colin Dalgleish (Robert Gordon University), will make his first World Universities appearance, as will world champion target shooter, Seonaid McIntosh (Heriot-Watt University).
